Last night, I was working on web site layout. I was checking the look and feel of the web site at 1024X768 resolution. I work on an older Gateway GT-5040 system with two monitors. (Not LCD, old fashioned CRT monitors.)
When I switched to 1024X768, I was amazed at how much better I could see. I normally run at 1280X1024 and occasionally at 1600X1200 when I am debugging. So I tried opening up Visual Studio 2008 at 1024X768. I was able to undock some of the support windows and place them in the secondary display. This gave me enough real estate in the editor to be comfortable. I am going to give this a try for a while. I wear glasses anyway, but I figure if I can cut out some eye strain, maybe my vision will not deteriorate as quickly.
I don't have any eye condition, I'm just getting old and I cannot see up close. My distance vision is just as good as it ever was. I still have better than 20/20 vision. (As my grandfather used to say, "I can still see well enough to spot a well turned ankle.")
