While unloading Rocket this afternoon, I was struck by the number of aircraft landing at the Executive Air Park on a Friday afternoon. This is oil and gas country. It was pretty obvious to me that Ardmore's economy is healthy and vibrant. There weren't a lot of signs of opulence (excepting the Learjets), but there appeared to be a lot of activity. Restaurants, shopping and a lot of Friday night traffic in a wonderful gem of a small town in south central Oklahoma. I was also impressed with the county fair grounds. Freshly painted, new buildings under construction, arenas in great shape. It feels like a town on the move.
Just remember, when you are shaking your fist at OPEC for high gasoline prices, you might also be shaking your fist at hard working Americans in places like Ardmore, OK. The price of oil, natural gas and gasoline helps out a lot of Americans. It brings prosperity to places that need the money, right in our own backyard. So think twice about high gas prices.
