I don't often have a really good day at work. Yesterday was one of them. A co-worker and I have been working on an MYT decomposition problem. We had purchased Dr. Mason's book on Multivariate Statistical Control and had worked up a program based on the the book. Yesterday, Dr. Mason e-mailed his findings to us. The worst disagreement we had was around 10-13. This was really good news, as we have been flying blind on this problem, working from first principles outlined in the book.

The other funny thing that happened was a disagreement between my co-worker and myself. As it turns out, I had misinterpreted an explanation in a general decomposition computation. When I implemented the correct methodology, it turned out to be far easier than my original interpretation. I was able to complete a second order decomposition problem in an hour instead of hours. This felt really good.

There are days when you leave work feeling like you made a difference.
