Well, I'm finally situated in San Antonio.
I've discovered three really big changes in my life:
- San Antonio traffic
- No computer in the evenings
- No family to engage with in the evenings
I am in an extended stay motel, which is nice. I have a kitchen, bedroom and a free laundry room, which is a life saver. I am currently working out twice per day. Since I have nothing to do in the evenings, I usually work out, read a little and go to bed around 9 PM. I am rediscovering life without a computer. (Although I am strongly considering one of the new, low cost netbooks for browsing and email.)
It's also a lot easier to NOT snack at night, since I don't stock any junk food. So far, I am shopping at Walmart and eating mostly Salmon, Tuna and salads. I am avoiding eating out. I'm down about five pounds in the last four days.
I am working on some neat stuff. I am hoping to put together some tutorials on how to read Excel files in C++ using the Excel ODBC driver. I have also discovered some key differences between the old 4.x version of the driver and the new 12.x version which ships with Office 2007. I've also found the correct download link so you can update your drivers to the new versions. (It's a no cost download, although you need to check the license carefully.)
