Blogging and Coding, Coding and Blogging

I lost my taste for blogging while I was in San Antonio. I also lost my taste for staying up 'til 2AM coding. I was forced to re-discover life without computers. I discovered life and the pleasures of reading and dining out with friends. I had a small kitchen in the motel where I was staying. I cooked in the evening. I love Mediterranean and Indian food and I was able to prepare all sorts of meals. I also worked out twice a day, in the motel "fitness" room. The last thing I thought about was sitting down and writing about some inane subject.

I have a new favorite author for the time being: Bernard Cornwell. I read "The Archer's Tale" (Grail Quest triology) and "The Pale Horseman" (Saxon Chronicles) while in San Antonio. I love historical novels. If you are interested in life in 500-800 A.D. England, you might enjoy these tales.

However, I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. (I will never let myself go as badly as I have the last few years.) Family, friends and exercise now come first. I love to walk and lift weights.  I love to talk to my wife and watch "Wheel of Fortune" with her after work. It sounds air headed, but have a lot of fun trying to solve the puzzles. It beats the crap out of sitting in front of a computer night after night.

That said, I am doing some interesting stuff in the technical world. I've been working on a Windows Installer project that involves 45K files. Yep, 45K! Working with that many files has proved challenging to say the least. I plan to write up some of my experiences, and some of the things one needs to know when working with InstallShield, Orca and the Windows Installer.
