Update: I came across this hilarious quote:
"Never in the history of the world has there been a situation so bad that the government can't make it worse. - Anonymous
There will be a lot of hyperbole and not much analysis concerning the government's unemployment report today.
In the interest of desseminating facts over hype, here is a link to the report. I urge you to read it for yourself.
Employment Situation Summary - August 7, 2009
- You'll be able to decide for yourself what is true and what is not true.
- There are so many agendas on both sides of the political and economic malaise in our country that some of us need to stop and read the fine print, or in this case, the actual report.
For those of you looking for technical and programming topics, I am ensconced in San Antonio, working long hours on a project, including weekends. The last thing I want to do when I get back to my long-term hotel room is turn on the computer and post technical topics. The off topic conversations in our office revolve around the economy (and vacation and where we're going to eat lunch on Friday.)
P.S. I've been reading so much material about the 100 years war, I've considered and abandoned the idea of taking some college courses on the subject. Why did I abandon the idea? Have you seen the price of college tuition lately? No way am I going to spend that kind of money for something that borders on a hobbyist's interests.
