Well, my affair with Windows 7 did not last long!
I discovered that Windows 7 did not support my sound card. It shows as a RealTek High Definition audio device in Windows XP. However, I could not make the device work with Windows 7. After multiple downloads and inspecting the frustration of lots of other users via Google, I quit and reinstalled XP. I liked everything I saw in Windows 7, but not having sound was a long term no-go for me.
Some might say I should have tried harder or waited for a driver update or turned in a bug. Nope, I used to be a beta tester way back when for Microsoft in the days of Windows 95 and Windows 98. Not anymore. Now, I am just a computer user. If it doesn't work first time out of the box, or it can't be made to work with a half hour of searching, it's reformat and install the old OS.
