I watched the comedy Julie and Julia with my wife last night, sans children. The evening was like falling in love all over again with my wife. The kids were gone, the house is somewhat picked up, and this person you have loved through the thick and thin of raising children and building a life is suddenly the girl you fell in love with way back in time in Dallas at Cardinal Puffs and later in grad school at SMU. Quiet house, nice movie, snow outside, a yule log in the fireplace and a small glass of Bailey's. The movie was enjoyable and worth the time. The uninterrupted conversation that took place afterward was simply amazing. You start to discover each other all over again. Definitely worth the $6 rental on U-Verse!
The next day, the son is home, playing Guitar Hero®, and my wife and I are dancing to the "new" music he is playing on the Wii and he is wondering why we know the words to the song. We were exhausted from shoveling snow all morning, but somehow, listening to Ray Steven's "Guitarzan" brought back the old energy. Good weekend. Only the old married's will know what I mean.
