Hot diggity dog! This weekend is mountain biking weather. Most of my honey-dos are honey-dones, so Saturday is looking like an open day for biking. I cannot wait!
Getting back to smart phones. I am trying to figure out how I would use a smart phone.
- What will $150 and $30/mo minimum buy me?
- How will the device help me do my job better?
- Would the device replace my laptop?
- Would the device replace my TomTom, which does not have a monthly data fee?
- Would I be able to replace my ATT Uverse?
- Will the device run Visual Studio 2010?
- Will the device have a version of SQL Server mobile on it?
- How many documents and spreadsheets will it store?
- Can I use a keyboard, or am I stuck with some sort of on screen virtual keyboard?
As you can see, I am trying to determine where the device would fit into my life. At this point, a smart phone looks like about all it would do is cost a bunch of money and I would still have to maintain ATT Uverse. It wouldn't help me keep my schedule any better than the calendar on my cell phone. I have no interest in listening to music while I walk. I don't enjoy playing games. I enjoy cooking, writing, mountain biking, hiking and coding and I just do not see how a smart phone would help me in those endeavors. I am sure looking for ideas on how spending a bunch of money would make my life better.
