I'm finally back to performing some article writing. For those of you that don't know me, I took a new job in April of 2013. I was hired on to write and maintain some C++ code, but this quickly morphed into a need to write Java service code, which was entirely new to me. I've been pretty swamped by deadlines and whenever I was able to get some free time, I typically headed to the gym or out to the nearby local trails with my bike. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things with what is now my .Net hobby.

I've started a new article exposing .Net components to VB Script using COM. The article focuses on passing objects from VB Script to COM methods written in C#. Working with VB Script and .Net COM objects

I've been able to update to ScrewTurnWiki (STW) 220.127.116.110. I notice on the wiki blog page
that the project is being abandoned. I've downloaded the code and recompiled it for .Net 4.0. I've run into a couple of minor problems. The most serious issue is that the validators hiccup on embedded XHTML code. This only seems to happen under .Net 4.0. My work around has been to abandon the use of embedded XHTML! The embedded code was not really necessary.

I finally got around to releasing the WTL project WTL Task Bar Notifier
. I haven't had time to write anything up, but you can download the code here.

I've managed to mung the screwturn wiki code 'formatter'. Rather than try to fix it, I simply put all the code blocks back to blank and white.

I've started the topic Managers can't program and developers can't read
. This page is aimed at recording anecdotal evidence of the things we do to ourselves while developing.

I've started a Random Advice
page, which is really just notes I've jotted down over time. Most of the notes are things I've had to learn the hard way.
I use this wiki to keep development notes and to publish articles that are too long for my blog.
Please check the table of contents
to view a particular page.
I am porting the DCDFLIB
project from native C++ to managed C++ and modernizing the code to remove labels and change large if statement blocks to switch statements.
I've discontinued my work on WinROTT. It was fun, but there just are not enough hours in the day. The Visual Studio 2008 C++ port can be found here.
Any long articles regarding the port to c++ will be given a separate page in this wiki.
I am eternally grateful to Birger N. Andreasen
for releasing his original work to the public. I would not be involved in the port of this game to native C++ using Visual Studio 2008 without his code as a guide.
I've completed a managed C++/CLI project using RAPI. The summary page for this work is located on my main web site: My C++/CLI work
. The latest article is posted here
